Students performance in science, reading, mathematics and computational problem-solving
The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is created by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to assess what 15-year-old students know and can do in science, reading and mathematics. PISA 2025 also includes an innovative assessment of computational problem solving, which examines how students use computational tools and practices to solve problems, test solutions and build digital artifacts.
PISA scores do not have a substantive meaning. They are scaled to to fit approximately normal distributions for all OECD countries with a mean of 500 and standard deviation of 100 in the first year a subject was assessed (reading in 2000, mathematics in 2003, science in 2006, computational problem solving 2025).
